Tucked away on the West Coast of South Africa, Kleinzee was a diamond mining town and mostly inaccesible to the public - thus protecting the marine ecology. This little gem is surrounded by the Namaqualand desert, about 105km from the town of Springbok. The beaches are sandy, intermixed with patches of rock. The area is sparsely populated and the ecology has remained largely protected.
Kleinzee Cottage is a guest house managed and owned by Johan and Petro Huisamen, a couple who grew up on the West Coast. Kleinzee Cottage offers typical Namaqualand hospitality holiday accommodation. It is located in the middle of town, walking distance from shops and, if you want to, the beach. Alternatively, the beach is also accessible by car. Most rooms have en suite facilities and guests are free to come and go as they please.
Fishing is popular, as are 4x4 activities. Enjoy seafood in season and local wine in many of the farm restaurants and fishing villages a few kilometres around Kleinzee. Relax in the evening with a walk on the beach and watch the magnificent sunset - or tuck up with a coffee or sundowner by the fire.
